Jeanne C. Jabaut
Photography & Painting
On display all of May 2009 at the Great Adirondack Soup Company.

Hi, my name is Jeanne C. Jabaut and I reside in the Adirondack Park with my husband, my children, four dogs, one cat and a rabbit named Jack. From the time I was a young child I have always loved to draw. My mother used to say that I was drawing as soon as I could hold a pencil. I don’t know why I have always been so fascinated with the arts but I do know that I’ve always enjoyed it.

I don’t consider myself to be an expert in any one area. I have a tendendacy to keep trying new things, therefore I never stay with any one medium long enough to be become an expert. I like to work fast, I hate to plan things out and I like to break all the rules. I need to feel things, work from my gut and just let it happen. If its not spontaneous than its not true to who I am. I think that’s why I often fluxuate between mediums, such as, pastels, watercolors, pen & ink, oils, acrylics and photography.

My interest in photography started when I was in college and I took a black and white photography class. I enjoyed it very much, but I never considered myself to be a true photographer, since my main interest has always been in painting. However, I recently started to play with the digital camera. In the beginning I was simply interested in gathering reference material for my paintings, but it wasn’t very long before I realized that digital photography was an exciting medium in and of itself. It also suited my need for fast results.

My initial experience with photography had been that it was too time consuming with all the chemicals and having to wait for the results of my efforts. Now with the new digital technology available to the amateur photographer such as myself, I just can’t seem to stop taking pictures long enough to find the time to paint. Although, I am sure to go back to painting eventually, for the time being I am finding a lot of enjoyment with digital photography.

I hope you will enjoy my first solo exhibit, as much as I have enjoyed taking the photos. If you go what you will see will be a variety of photos which I have taken over the last year. Some photos were taken in the Adirondacks, some in Vermont and some were taken in North Carolina. My first exhibit will be up on May 1, 2009 at Chris’s Great Adirondack Soup Company. Thanks to everyone for visiting this site and a special thanks goes out to Chris for his support and for all the great food he serves at his restaurant. Chris you are an artist in the kitchen!

Sincerely,

Jeanne
