Every month we invite a different local artist to display their work in our dining room, creating an intimate gallery space for our patrons to enjoy. If you are an artist and are interested in utilizing the Great Adirondack Soup Company for your next display, please contact Chris Dominianni at 561-6408 Monday-Friday after 3pm.
Gharan Burton
Gharan Burton was born and raised on the small Caribbean island of Dominica. He first came to the US to pursue a collage education in the upstate New York area. His first choice was the field of architecture, then computer science. After being exposed to art throughout the campus of SUNY Plattsburgh, Gharan was drawn to art, and finally decided that this is what he would make his final career choice. In the fall of 2005 Gharan transferred to Midwestern State University (M.S.U), in Wichita Falls, Texas.
After graduating from M.S.U. in December 2007 with his B.F.A in painting and sculpture, Gharan moved back to Plattsburgh, NY, where he currently lives. Gharan’s art has taken many turns in his artistic career. He is a very prolific artist and is constantly experimenting with different techniques and media. Paintings range from plein-aire landscapes painted with the palette knife, to festive figurative paintings. Gharan’s most recent paintings which are abstract in nature explore the technique of palette knife painting using strong, pure colors as a background on which black line drawing is done using the palette knife.
Apart from being a painter Gharan is also a sculptor whose interest lies in large-scale outdoor sculptures. His sculptures involve repetition of forms, contrast of colors and textures and combination of materials.
